The End...?
Years Later
After the king was dead and the story was forgotten, people indulged in lust as he had with the women. However, as many things of the demonic, the spirit of lust brought two more of the deadly sins to invade the hearts of the people. Greed and envy. The people envied each other's makeup and lip colors as the fish oil, bees' wax balm, and mashed berries evolved. They hoarded berries, different oils, and lip colors for wear and market bartering. Women lusted after each other's husbands and brothers. It was so bad that the 3 sins were inhabited by demons that prowled around the shadows of the town seeking whom they might devour. Lust, the leading sin, took the likeness of King Français and would transform into the women's heart's desire until they kissed him. And because he thrived on dysfunction, he did a play on the old king's sentiments... The kiss would make the woman's lips shrivel up, bleed, and sometimes fall off. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. The townspeople noticed and prayed to God to tell them what to do, and that they’d stop enduring in the sins.
Consequences
God answered and said he would stop the demons, but because they had alreadthey’d have to learn a lesson. One, everyone must fast for forty days. Two, after that, the women would be cursed to always wear something on their lips. Lust would be gone, and they wouldn’t be scared of the “French Kissing man”. However, if they don’t wear anything on their lips, it will be like the lust’s kiss where their lips are damaged. And because of their envy, they’re going to always feel the need to have something for their lips and spend way more than they should, and never remember why they need it.
The future of your lips
Now, in modern day, the curse has fallen due to the new covenant with Jesus; however, the residuals of the curse can be seen slightly. In the way your sister needed that EOS balm in elementary. In the way your mom always wore red lipstick, even now as a grandmother. In the way, you see ten-year-olds fighting for a taste of the new Summer Fridays. In the way your girlfriend asks you to come with her to Ulta, where there are full sections for lip products of all different kinds, and she wants you to help her pick. Even though her purse is full of only lip gloss. So the next time you wonder why the woman in your life or you yourself can barely resist looking at the new Elf lip glosses at Target or getting the free lip balms at events you never use, you now know why.
